PhD in Biotechnology requirements

  • Be accepted by the Selection Committee Evaluation Committee composed of teachers of The Methodist Hospital Research Institute or the MD Anderson Cancer Center and School of Medicine and Health Sciences Tec de Monterrey.

  • Accomplish with the summers as a requirement requested by the institution which granted the spot.

  • Take the Admission Test for Graduated Studies (PAEP for its acronym in Spanish) and obtain at least 500 points or 1,200 in the Graduate Record Examination GRE.

  • Have an overall grade average of a minimum of 90 in his or her previous studies (in an scale of 0 to 100).

  • English proficiency as measured by a TOEFL score of 600 (Paper Test), 248 (Computer Based Test) or 98 (Internet Based Test).

  • Have fully completed the program Bachelor in Biosciences (LBC) program or the equivalent prior to the approval of the first course in the Ph. D. in Biotechnology program.

  • Students must meet the country’s current legal requirements.

  • Two letters of recommendation from professors.

  • Essay (two pages summarizing the reasons for wishing to be admitted to the PhD in Biotechnology and their future career plans).

  • Personal interview
